“I am happy that two major companies have decided to approach the world of ocean sailing by supporting this important Italian enterprise,” said Giovanni Soldini.

“We intend to be the first Italian boat to set a record on an official WSSRC route and breaking the North Atlantic record has always been a lifelong dream of mine.”

The boat will be named after Maserati, the principal partner for the challenge, also sponsoring the challenge will be the Swiss bank BSI (Generali Group) and Generali itself.

Maserati will fly the pennant of Yacht Club Italiano, which was founded in 1879 and is the oldest sailing club in the Mediterranean Sea. Vodafone Italia and Boero Bartolomeo S.p.A. will be official suppliers to the challenge, with Bulgari as the Official Time Keeper.

“Maserati is lending its name to a boat which represents the synthesis of nautical technology and with which Soldini and his crew will attempt to break major ocean records,” said Harald Wester, CEO of Maserati S.p.A.

“Giovanni Soldini aboard Maserati expresses the absolute symbiosis of values – passion, emotion, speed, adrenalin, innovation along with craftsmanship and an Italian identity – between the Trident marque and the great Italian yachtsman in a series of offshore challenges on a global scale.”

“Yacht Club Italiano is delighted to be partnering Giovanni Soldini and Maserati in this important challenge,” declared Carlo Croce, president of Yacht Club Italiano.

Alfredo Gysi, CEO of BSI SA, the Gruppo Generali bank said: “We are pleased to support, together with Maserati, Giovanni Soldini and his crew and recognise the great sporting value of their project,”

“Tackling such a challenge requires great technical expertise, team spirit and aspiration to excellence: all values that are fully reflected in our group.”

Maserati Owners Club

The Maserati Kubang concept unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, which aims to provide a combination to driving pleasure and a luxury atmosphere more in keeping with high-end sports and luxury cars.

The Maserati Kubang concept is a forerunner of the future Maserati range, seeing the manufacturer enter the sport luxury SUV segment.

In 2003, Maserati first unveiled the Kubang concept at the Detroit Auto Show, when many other manufacturers were just moving towards a sport luxury SUV.

The style, engine, suspensions, brakes, handling and performance will all be recognisable as maserati and will be in line with the brand’s core values of sportiness, style, elegance, luxury, performance and craftsmanship.
New Maserati proprietary engines will be design in Modena by Paolo Martinelli – Head of the Maserati Powertrain Department and for nearly 30 years at Ferrari, where he also served as engine chief of the FormulaOne racing team – and will be produced in Maranello by Ferrari.

The Maserati Kubang will feature an AT 8 speed automatic transmission, alongside specifically developed settings for suspensions, brakes and steering by the Maserati Product Development Department.

Maserati has only produced saloons, coupes and two- or four-seater convertibles until today, with two common denominators; sportiness and luxury, which will be carried over to the Maserati Kubang with a dynamic form and high performing sport luxury SUV.

World premiere at the Motorshow of Geneva for the new Maserati GranCabrio Sport

maseratiownersclub.co.uk
01/03/2011 – Geneva

Maserati’s Chief Executive, Harald J. Wester, presented the new GranCabrio Sport in front of a large international press pack and an admiring public. This latest model is a fresh take on the successful GranCabrio, a car that has already earned its place in Maserati history.

Created for clients who prefer an even more dynamic and athletic image, the car’s sporty character is hinted at by the new detailing and the Rosso Trionfale bodywork tint.

The 4.7 litre V8 engine develops 331 kW and 510 Nm of torque but does not penalise emissions or consumption. The power unit is teamed with an automatic transmission kitted out with MC Auto Shift software managed via Trofeo Design paddles mounted on the steering column. The gear shift paddles are now slightly longer to render changes easier and more fluid in any conditions. The brakes feature four slotted and perforated discs that reduce stopping distances in the wet and which improve overall braking consistency; the callipers can be spied through the new 20” Astro Design wheel rims.

The GranCabrio Sport boasts a number of sporty touches, including the front grille with its red-pronged Trident (a badge that only the most powerful Maseratis wear), the elegant oval tailpipes and new body-coloured side spoilers. Added to this is the Skyhook suspension system, the Maserati Stability Program (MSP) and MC Sport Line personalisation package with its many carbon fibre finishes.

The car’s sportier feel complements the cabin with its abundance of prestigious materials and supple Poltrona Frau® leather. Two new leathers tints, Bianco Pregiato and Grigio Chrono, extend the choice of interior look.

Timed to coincide with the launch of the new GranCabrio Sport, Maserati also unveils a mobile portal dedicated to the new model. This can be reached by using the QR code found in the product brochure. At mobi.maserati.com, it will be possible to access all the information about the new model, its technical spec, a photo gallery, freebies for mobile phones and a mini-configurator that allows users to view the car’s different bodywork colours and wheel rim options. The portal also includes a ‘light’ contact form so that interested users can be identified for follow-up product information.

You can find more news about the new Maserati GranCabrio Sport on the dedicated www.maseratigrancabriosport.com mini-website. The site gives users the chance to view images of the car and browse the almost limitless personalisation options from the car configurator.

Maserati can be found at Stand 5233 in Paddock 5 at the 2011 Motorshow of Geneva. Also on the stand will be the GranTurismo S Automatic, the Quattroporte Sport GT S and the GranCabrio. Over in the racing area, visitors can admire the GranTurismo MC Stradale alongside the powerful GranTurismo MC Trofeo that stars in the Trofeo Maserati.

Worldwide preview at the Geneva Auto Show for the Maserati GranCabrio Sport

maseratiownersclub.co.uk
21/02/2011 – Modena

After stunning the world with the GranCabrio at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, Maserati will use the 2011 Geneva Motor Show to take its grand-touring convertible to a new level of performance and handling with the GranCabrio Sport.

Conceived to give the GranCabrio a harder-edged model to sit alongside the GranTurismo S and the Quattroporte Sport GT S, the GranCabrio Sport uses a more powerful and fuel-efficient version of Maserati’s, all-alloy 4.7-litre V8, coupled with the ZF six-speed automatic transmission.

This naturally aspirated engine produces in this configuration 331 kW (450 horsepower) and has 510Nm at the peak of its rich, thick torque curve. Maserati’s Friction Reduction Program has made the GranCabrio Sport’s engine more reactive to the driver’s most-nuanced inputs, while reaching a 6% reduction in fuel consumption. The top speed of the GranCabrio Sport is 285 km/h.

This six-speed transmission is equipped with the super-fast MC Auto Shift software and has been developed for the GranCabrio Sport directly from the transmission in the Quattroporte Sport GT S. The MC Auto Shift provides optimized gearshift response resulting in an even-greater engagement.

The handling has received attention, too, with an upgrade and revision of the Skyhook active-suspension system – now with a sportier tuning – and the adoption of grooved and drilled dual-cast brake discs.

Visually, the GranCabrio Sport is characterized by a more-pronounced dynamic look. This look begins at the GranCabrio’s distinctive nose with a black grille and a Trident with red accents. The headlights now have a black look with white sidemarks, while front corner splitters and the redesigned side skirts are both body coloured. The GranCabrio Sport also debuts a new body colour for Maserati: Rosso Trionfale inspired by the red Italian national colours used on 1950s racing Maseratis – in 1957, Juan Manuel Fangio won his fifth F1 World Title at the wheel of a red Maserati 250F.

The GranCabrio Sport will be on sale in all of Maserati’s 62 markets starting from Summer 2011.

The new GranTurismo MC Stradale unveiled in Paris in a world premiere

maseratiownersclub.co.uk
30/09/2010 – Paris

Maserati choose the 2010 Paris Motorshow as the exclusive stage for the world premiere of the new GranTurismo MC Stradale, a model that draws its inspiration from the Trofeo models.

After briefly welcoming the watching public and motoring press, Maserati Chief Executive, Harald Wester, lifted the covers on the lightest, most powerful and highest performing roadgoing car ever produced by Maserati.

At first sight, the new model stands out for its refined elegance. Still, the car’s sporty nature emerges in its twin, centrally-mounted exhausts and brake air vents on its flanks. On a technical level, the engineer’s have created the perfect blend of the performance delivered by the 450 bhp, 4.7 litre V8 engine, the superb handling that characterises the entire GranTurismo range, and the impeccable class which here is enhanced with the exclusive materials used on the car’s interior. Supple leather, soft Alcantara® and special hi-tech carbon fibre and aluminium detailing catch the eye in the twin-seat interior. Inside, occupants enjoy superior levels of comfort and can create their own unique car thanks to almost endless range of personalisation options.

Another distinctive feature of the new GranTurismo MC Stradale’s racing heritage are the carbon-ceramic brakes developed by Brembo. The beauty of the unit can be appreciated when teamed with the new 20″ MC Design wheel rims. The brakes deliver excellent performance and reliability and, together with other modifications to the spec, help make this car 110 kg lighter than the GranTurismo S model.
The GranTurismo MC Stradale also plays a starring role on the web.
At www.maseratigranturismomcstradale.com you can enjoy a video of the car’s presentation and exclusive new images. You will also have the chance to use the car configurator where you can choose from the infinite combinations available to create your dream GranTurismo MC Stradale. To round things off, from 20 November and on a monthly basis thereafter, each section of the mini-site will be updated with new photographs and content.
